Where do we get our authority?

We believe the Bible to be God’s chosen method of revealing His will to man and we look to the Bible alone for our authority in doctrine and practice. We simply try to follow what the Bible teaches.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Tim. 3:16-17

Our purpose.

Our purpose is to share the love of Christ by being a warm, friendly group where people can learn about God. We desire to teach the truth of God’s word to every person in the Maryville area.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Mat 28:19-20

We see a need to address the spiritual needs of the entire family and above all, we desire the salvation of every soul.

Only those who have done the will of the Father will enter the kingdom of heaven. We would be happy to study with you what God’s will is, so that you can also enter the kingdom of heaven.

What must I do to be saved?

No greater love could have been shown by God but to send His Son to die for you so you can have forgiveness of sins. But that is only half of the story. God has now asked you to love him back.

How do we do this?

If we love God we need to be obedient to God’s commands.

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. John 14:15

These are the conditions God has asked us to meet to receive the forgiveness of sins:

Believe that Jesus is the Son of God

And who is the one who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:5

Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

Turn your life to God (Repentance)

Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent Acts 17:30

“Repent,” Peter said to them, “and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

Confess

And Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart you may.” And he replied, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” Acts 8:37

if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation. Romans 10:9-10

Be baptized

“Repent,” Peter said to them, “and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Mark 16:16

Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you–not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience–through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21

Live faithfully for the Lord

What should we say then? Should we continue in sin in order that grace may multiply? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life. Romans 6:1-4

the one who says he remains in Him should walk just as He walked. 1 John 2:6

We would be happy to meet with you and study with you about these things to help you meet God’s conditions to receive His grace. God loves every person but requires everyone to obey His commands.

You are My friends if you do what I command you. John 15:14
